The different types of visa for Thailand

Thailand offers various types of visas depending on the duration of your stay in the Kingdom. Here are the visas you can apply for, along with the conditions for obtaining them.

Information may change frequently, so check information with Thai consulates or official websites.

Attention !!

You must be sure before your trip that your passport will not expire during your stay abroad: it must remain valid for at least 6 months before entering Thailand, or you risk being banned from entering Thailand.

Entering Thailand as a tourist for less than 30 days

If you plan to visit Thailand for a period of less than 30 days, you do not need to obtain a visa in advance with a French passport. You will have a visa stamp upon arrival at the airport in Thailand.

Maximum length of stay:

England/France/Belgium/Switzerland/Canada: 30 days

Possibility of making an extension of 1 week or 30 days!

To do this, you must go to Mae Nam immigration (Soi 1) before the end of your 30 days, with 1900 baths and 2 identity photos, the address of your hotel as well as a photocopy of your passport and the arrival stamp.

Each day exceeded will require you to pay a fine at the airport upon return (500 baht per day exceeded) and this is generally not advisable!!

Attention !! it is strongly recommended to have proof of exit from the territory before 30 days (plane tickets, bus tickets)

Your departure airline may refuse you boarding!

Tourist visa (60 days)

This visa is valid for 3 months from the date of obtaining.

It allows its holder to stay for 60 days from the date of arrival in Thailand. This may benefit from a one-month extension. To do this, you must go to the Immigration services and provide 1900 bahts (around €50) for application fees. The beneficiary must not have left the country.

Once the tourist visa holder has left Thai territory, their visa is automatically canceled, even if the applicant only spends one day in Thailand!

To obtain it, you must apply to the Thai embassy in your country or apply at Thai embassies in border countries (Malaysia, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, etc.)

In high season, there are more requests, deadlines are longer, be prepared!

Please note that to make the request you must have a return plane ticket less than 90 days away!
